Hi, i am just wondering how long it takes after an Oscar has mated before it lays the eggs?

It depends on many things and can't be said for sure. sometimes in a few days and sometimes takes months.
whats the size of them?

put a flat slate for them, its highly recommended. 8*8" or more is good.

probably more than that...... put out a clay pot and clean rocks....... raise the temperature upto around 80 degrees.....

spawns of 2000 eggs are common.
What will you do with them?
Better have at least 500g of tank space available, which will work for maybe 6 weeks.

That is right Algenco common spawn for fully mature Oscars is 1000-3000 eggs..... Alot of tank space and alot of water changes... alot of brine shrimp... In the past when my Oscars have spawned I've thrown away alot of eggs and kept only what I wanted and what the petstore would give me credit for....
