I can hardly believe this! It's like one month they are little and 6 weeks later I can't recognize the new ones from the one adult I have.

I planted my tank and having a bit of a mini-cycle due to changing the substrate so moved two of the firemouths out for awhile. I dropped 1 in the 20 gallon and thought I had my fish mixed up and grabbed the adult instead.

I don't think she's even 4 months old and as large as my 1 1/2 year old female. I have to go back and check posts now to see when I bought her.

My gawd I got her Nov 10. She's 3 months old today as well as the male I got at the same time. He's smaller, of course, since he's male but a very nice size too.

I will try to catch a pic later but they run when they see me and right now too much reflection from the window shows. They get Harika Gold, Harika suppliment and dried blood worms and shrimp. No real live foods are sold in town but they will get some when I take my road trip North.

It just goes to prove nothing takes the place of a high quality diet and pristine water conditions.

I would love to see a picture of the female if you get time. That male is nice.

Here's a couple.

Unfortunately, I seldom see her. She is very, very skittish and hangs in her cave all day. Now that I got the photo, I see she has a bit of mouth fungus so will have to keep my eye on that.

Thank you. I was confused about what a female looked like compared to the male. My Firemouth is still real young but I now think I have a male. He is slender in the abdomen and has long pointed anal and dorsal fins. I am pretty sure it is a male now.

The male is smaller than the female but both are colored up about the same.
