i finally saw a 18" oscar

these things were H-U-G-E! the reef store i usually go to keeps some FW fish and they had a 18" tiger oscar and 18" albino in the same tank, they measured them. i think they must have had them on steroids or something to be that big. i should have got a pic.

at $20 each i wish i had the 650g right now to get both of them

yeah they probably had them in a huge tank and on alot of food. Oscars max in the wild at 18-19 inches so they shouldn't be growing anymore... they have to be like 5-6 years old those things to be that massive.... Did they have alot of coloration or were they faded out......

they had tons of color, the albino had a deep orange allover it and the tiger was dark black with red

they must have been wild caught

they might have been but if you got a big tank you can grow them big..... that 650 gallon you are gonna have will grow the Oscar huge... I bet he hits 15 inches especially on NLS..... we'll see in time.... That Pacu's gonna explode in a 650..... he'll be two feet in no time.....lol

lol, the pacu is huge, hes doubled since i got him in october.

mini-pacu, the 2" baby pacu i rescued from petsmart made it, he had severe fin rot so i rescued him for $5 and just let him fend for himself in my 90g. he wouldnt eat for 5 days and hid but his fins healed and hes eating and getting along with everyone
