Well i got the little guy today, after an hour drive and he has settled in and is swimming around checkin out the tank and chasing the bubbles up and down.

02-09-2008, 11:36 PM
Also, he turns pretty dark with his orange colors showing a lot more. Hes pretty neat.

Im going to get a better picture.

very scary. im intimidated by Oscars. they're so vicious looking lol but he is adorable. :) Im sure he'll settle right in and love it!

02-09-2008, 11:49 PM
All this oscar does is swim, swim, and chase the bubbles up and down lol. hes cool.

02-09-2008, 11:59 PM
congrats on getting your oscar... finally lol
i think your pleco is a sailfin, mine looks exactly like that. those tan bandings that he has will dissappear when he settles in a bit more, but will come back whenever he is scared or stressed. congrats again:thumb:

02-10-2008, 12:01 AM
Thanks arkie, and he was actually that color in the place i got him. So i dont think its a sailfin. But i could be wrong.

02-10-2008, 12:17 AM
lol i just looked at your pleco photo again, my 5 yr old saw it and is quite certain its the same as our "Mr Pleco" i wasnt going to argue with her. someone else on here could probly id it better than me anyways thumbs2:

02-10-2008, 12:18 AM
Lol ill take your word on it. Hes still pretty neat though.

02-10-2008, 12:21 AM
what are you going to feed him? id suggest lots of vegies, theyre like pleco steroids :thumb:

02-10-2008, 12:29 AM
Im not sure lol, i was going to get some algae wafers.

02-10-2008, 12:33 AM
id still get those bud, just feed some sort of vegtable once or twice a week.

02-10-2008, 12:37 AM
Good luck with the oscar and pleco! BTW, what size tank is this again? I heard before, but I forgot lol.

02-10-2008, 12:41 AM
55 gallon yeah?

02-10-2008, 12:54 AM
yep, 55 gallon.

02-10-2008, 05:37 AM
nice oscar budman........

02-10-2008, 02:09 PM
The light background will darken up and match the rest of the background. Most likely the NLS will bring that pale peach/orange up to a bright orange, amyeb almost orange-red. Nice pattern.

02-10-2008, 03:38 PM
Is it normal that my oscar, soon as i put him in the tank, hasnt stopped swimming? Lol, he hasnt sulked or anything, he realls enjoys swimming in the back with the bubbles and goes through them. This fish is very happy im thinking.

02-10-2008, 04:10 PM
Sounds good. Has he darkened up at all yet?

02-10-2008, 04:15 PM
A little, he still has the tan but sometimes hes all dark. I guess its a mood thing.

02-10-2008, 04:31 PM
Oh, and it seems like he rather swim and have fun than eat lol. Should i give him some time?

02-10-2008, 04:49 PM
Congrats bud! he has very nice pattern.
but if hes swiming up and down toward a glass very fast and without paying attention to the environment, hes prolly scared badly. young oscars do that when theyr under a hard stress, they want to scape.
give him time to settle in. also turning off tank lights hepls, room light is enough.

02-10-2008, 04:53 PM
blu its not like that at all man, he just likes swimming up and down with the bubbles. He just likes swimming and checking out his tank. When you walk near the tank he doesnt hide which is cool. But today he really likes swimming in the back near the bubbles and weaves through the filters lol. It looks normal.

02-10-2008, 05:03 PM
Good, its alright then.

02-10-2008, 05:05 PM
nice looking Oscar

02-10-2008, 05:09 PM
Thanks.. Ill get a better picture of him later.

02-11-2008, 07:44 PM
I cant see the pic

02-11-2008, 07:49 PM
Congrats on the Oscar! I can't see any pix though. You'll love him. I've had my Oscar, Bill, for about a year and a half now. He's roughly 10-12". My favorite fish!

02-11-2008, 09:53 PM
Ill try to get a better one later.

02-13-2008, 08:23 PM
But yeah, he really likes his new food.

02-13-2008, 08:26 PM
very nice oscar bud, great colors!

02-13-2008, 08:57 PM
thanks. I really like his color.

02-13-2008, 08:58 PM
How is your Oscar doing budman????

02-13-2008, 09:08 PM
doing great. he didnt eat the hikari gold medium and mini pellets, he didnt eat the flakes.. so i tried the NLS and he ate them very quickly and ate 3-4 of them. I guess he knows good quality food lol.

02-13-2008, 09:10 PM
Yeah just mix em up to keep him happy.... Give him a treat every now and again.... Did you read Hobbs post about NLS on her BP's. Both lost significant color after using it. I threw mine away and went back to Hikari Bio-Gold.....

02-13-2008, 09:19 PM
Yeah but thats 1 person with bad luck with it, and a different type of fish.
