definitely gets cold up your way.
I was goose hunting around Luck lake once in October, when we arrived it was in the high 70's for the first 3 days, day 4 temps dropped into the teens with strong winds and snow, I nearly froze my___ off!
And yes...I'm so NOT looking forward to my drive down to Moose Jaw tomorrow morning...
I wanna stay home and hide under the covers...

That could be a nasty drive..... lot's of wind and blowing snow tomorrow, drive safe.
No kidding...I'm not looking forward to it...I'm a chicken if the roads are bad...*bwakbwak*
I'm making everyone take their snowsuits and barn boots! Better safe than sorry...which reminds me...need to charge my cell phone...
I feel like a Boy Scout...

Does Canada use C or F?
I don't think that I'd cope with that type of cold, whether it is C or F! lol The coldest I've ever felt it here where I live is -5C which is 23F, and I think that the coldest that it has ever gotten anywhere in Australia is -23! And that was on Mt Kosciuszko on the snow slopes and that was -23C, or -9.4F! Snow is such a rarity here, we had snow here a couple of months ago now (it was only about 2 inches, and most of it melted a couple of hours after hitting the ground) that the schools got the day off! LOL, the average temp here over winter is about 10C, 51F, and Ballarat is renound as one of the coldest places in Australia! They should all go to somewhere where is does actually get cold.
Good luck to all you guys mate, you can keep the temps like that I'm afraid, I'll stick with 10C! lolthumbs2:

celcius we stubburn Americans still use Farenheit.....
fraggle
02-09-2008, 04:16 AM
LOL, and the Americans are meant to be leading the world! LOL, I know that US use F, does Canada?
jbeining75
02-09-2008, 04:18 AM
Canada uses celsius I wish we would switch from imperial to metric but we are to stupid to pull it off...... everyone would be like 2 kilometers what the heck??????
fraggle
02-09-2008, 04:22 AM
Metric does make more sense, I only know what some imperial is because I still have to talk to my Grandparents in it! Grandpa wouldn't know how far a km was if it jumped up and bit him! Same as with Grandma, have to get the weight of the kids when born in lb, actually the majority of people here still talk in pounds when its babies born! All the birth notices have lb and oz, only very occasionally do you see them in kg or grams. LOL
cocoa_pleco
02-09-2008, 04:24 AM
were on metric, so celcius. i prefer metric over imperial
jbeining75
02-09-2008, 04:27 AM
It's kinda easier I think.... 1 kilometer equals .6214 miles
2.20 pounds equals 1 kilogram

02-09-2008, 04:28 AM
Stuff that for a joke cocoa, you can keep that! -40C! Glad I live down under, wouldn't know how to cope in that, don't know how you do! You'd get frostbite just walking out the front door! You can see why bears etc hibernate, they must be smarter than us humans. LOL
jbeining75
02-09-2008, 04:28 AM
metrics bases are so much easier but we would have to change everything we live by and reeducate everyone. I can never see America switching.....
jbeining75
02-09-2008, 04:29 AM
only thing good about imperial is it's more precise in measurements

i actually dont get cold, its really weird. i wear a open jacket in -40c with a t-shirt and i dont feel any cold.

02-09-2008, 04:37 AM
Really?!?!?! Don't know how you do that! I've got to laugh though, you certainly do get used to temperature, my husbands best mate is in the army and based in Queensland (NE Australia), when they come down, his missus (who has lived there all her life, Mick was from here) get rugged up like you wouldn't believe, where we are walking around in shorts, blueys and thongs, she's got the uggies, trackies, jumper, jacket scarf and beanie on. LOL

dude thats nuts that -40 farenheit also...... holy cow..... it gets in the negatives here I'm not moving my butt from this house
fraggle
02-09-2008, 04:49 AM
You wouldn't want to jb! Your knee would more that throb in that kind of weather! Nah mate, stuff that for a joke, you can keep -40, I tell you (hey don't know but that must be about the only time that F and C are the same! File that away for future use, it'll probably turn up at a Trivia night somewhere, lol)
jbeining75
02-09-2008, 04:53 AM
yeah negative 40 is the only time it works out that way...... 0 celcius is 32 degrees farenheit freezing point......

lol, im just immune to the cold.
the 40c summers here are pretty bad too
fraggle
02-09-2008, 05:18 AM
We get the 40C summers, just not the -40 winters! Was actually 46C here the other week, now we're in a cold snap and it's only 18C, c'mon this is meant to be summer! I've got the flamin heater on! lol, Can't complain too much, got a couple of mm of rain out of it, and we can sure use that! At least with all that snow, when it melted you would have lots of water!
jbeining75
02-09-2008, 05:18 AM
yeah I'm just adjusting to Maryland.... I lived in Hawaii the last 7 years where its 60-90 farenheit all year round.... Here it goes from -10 to 110 farenheit....
fraggle
02-09-2008, 05:34 AM
I think I could take Hawaii, ( never been there, but wouldn't mind it!) like less extremes in weather. I think I'm like the fish, they don't like extremes either! lol
jbeining75
02-09-2008, 05:37 AM
yeah theres all kinds offish there to see scuba diving, plus no bad weather changes...... here in Maryland you can have a 50 degree swing in a day and its normal........ (in the winter)
fraggle
02-09-2008, 05:39 AM
50 degree weather change in a day is not normal! That is insane! LOL
jbeining75
02-09-2008, 05:42 AM
its normal here, it will be 60 during the day and drop to ten at nights sometimes, it's crazy..... i know its not normal... it happens through the winter..... not everyday but occassionally a couple times a month....(december, jan, feb) 20 degree changes almost every night through the winter unless its just ridiculously cold then it just stays bitter all day long
jbeining75
02-09-2008, 05:43 AM
maryland is right on the cold winter/warm winter line but we live in the mountains so we can see all four seasons in 1 day lol......

02-09-2008, 05:46 AM
I think I'll stick to the land down under, not that extreme. LOL
Good chatting jb, but I better go and get the kiddlies some tea!

It just won't quit here. Generally here March is a toughie and I sure am not looking forward to it the way the rest of the winter has been. I just want some windows open and some fresh air for awhile.

Well it's warmed up to a mind boggling -43 lol. Like a dummy I forgor to plug the car in and ole betsy was mighty reluctant to start, but she did.
To our cousins in the southern states we usually plug in a thing called a block heater to help keep the oil pan and block warmer in the deep cold for easier starts.
jbeining75
02-09-2008, 04:40 PM
yes, it gets 0 here and I have to let my truck run for like 10 minutes before it's ready and warmed. I can't even imagine -43 celcius lol....
On another subject I would like to thank my local weatherman who broadcasted that today and tomorrow we will have snow (60%) and the weather would be in the lower 30's.......... I can see the sun and it's 50+ degrees outside....... Good call weatherman - what do we even have them for......... we can look at the weather channel and say okay here comes a big green glob it's gonna rain.... oh look a big white blob here comes some snow.....oh look its the middle of summer and there's no clouds - double up the sunscreen...... lol

I just too a peek outside and my car and the car next to it are hugging each other trying to keep warm. Actual temp right now at 1 PM is -6 but the wind is blowing like crazy so wind chill is way down there.
