Some of you may remember that for the longest time I was having all kinds of strange health issues in my tank, even though my water was great and there were no obvious infections/parasites/etc. Thankfully, that all seems to have calmed down now, for the most part. I lost quite a few fish, but I think everyone that was going to die...well...has.

One of the things I noticed several months ago was that one of my lemon tetras had a split in its tail fin, right in the middle. At the time I was going out of town and my quarantine tank was already full, so I couldn't think of anything to do but wait it out and see what happened.

2 months later, the fish is still doing just fine, but the split is still there. The fish swims and eats normally, and it hasn't gotten any kind of a secondary infection. Should I be worried? My quarantine tank is still occupied by babies, so I can't put it somewhere else for treatment, but my thought is that if nothing has happened in 2 months, it's probably fine? What do you think?

If he's eating normally and doesn't seem stressed, it would appear that he will be fine :thumb: I suppose it's possible that it just may never heal back to normal. Keep a close eye on him to be sure there is no redness or disease, but I think that like you said, if something was going to happen, it would have happened in the last 2 months. I'm glad everything is getting better!

I'd say use melafix to help heal it but if it hasn't grown back in two months I'm not sure it will. Like vic said though watch the fin split for infection/redness and good luck......

I think once the fin splits to deep that it won't grow back. If he acts fine and it doesn't appear to bother him I wouldn't worry about it.
