Is my old reef light to powerful for a planted tank or great for them? I have a 10,000K 640 acintic light.

how many watts, and what type of bulb? If you can replace the bulb with a 6700k without acintic, it should work okay.

Well, is it a fluorescent light, a Compact fluorescent light, an incandescent light, metal halide, etc?

is it PC, T-5, MH, or incandescent? how long is the light? most PC are 65w, 130w, or 260w, T-5 can be 2x38w, 2x54w, etc. and fluorescent is usually 7w, 15w, 20w, or 40w

lol, i cant believe you had a reef without knowing the lighting wattage for corals
