one of my dwarf gourami are showing signs of a tattered tail fin, it does not look like it was nipped, but more like an old flag in the wind. it seems to be ripping down the little tails bones, know what I mean?

any ideas?

melafix will heal fin rot and damage, dose the little guy and he should be good. also salt helps the process along nicely......

Does the fins have dark or red ends?..thats one possible sign of fin rot. Could it be possible that another fish has been nipping him? Either way melafix should take care of it but I have recently read bad things about using it with labrenth(sorry spelling has slipped my mind) breathers particularly bettas. I have personally not had a problem but I only add about .5cc per 10 gal(about half dose)

And if you decide to use melafix remember to do a small water change every day not after 7(the directions are a little confusing)

Well then I guess I use much less than the reccomended amount but I have had good results with that amount. Also at one of the reliable lfs they gave me a one ml syringe and told me to put in .1ml/gal so Ive been using half of their reccomended amount ever since.

I guess you just need to use what works best for you.

blu here is a little math for you .5 cc is .5 of a ml. 1 cc = 1 ml. just a FYI, also one teaspoon is also 5ml..and yes I used 1/3 of a dose..
