The Poecilocharax weitzmani - Black Morpho Tetra - they are stunning!!! Well mine aren't quite yet but with proper care I hope they are showing their beauty soon.
I have gotten 40 of these guys for my Amazon tank.... (fingers crossed the Angels ignore them) So far so good as the Angels are also still juveniles - I hope the growing up together will prevent them from being lunch.
With these guys comes also a nice new breeding challenge as they seem quite difficult to breed so I am a happy bunny today xxxx

I am definetly checking those out. See if I can special order some. is the care about the same as other tetras? pH below 7, schools of 6+, heavily planted, that kinda stuff?
Good luck with them!
WOW!!! That's beautiful!! I want! I want!!! Drools*

The more the better - in their adult size they are only 1.6 inches (4cm) - as they don't breed very easily most are wildcaught and need a PH of around 6 so if you are getting them for a tank with higher PH be sure to drip acclimate them well...
They are already coming on color after their live daphnia feed and are lovely swimmers.

I got a steady pH of 6.8 in my 55 gallon, they should be fine in there. I'll get 8 or 10 as soon as I can find them, they're really nice fish!

ya thanks!
It should be a great addition! Its got color, shape, good personality from what I've researched, and its got very nice fins, I don't like the look of most hi-finned species, too unnatural, but this guy is great!

It reminds me of a mosquito for some reason. Good luck with the breeding!
Oh, seriously, Fishalicious, come ON! You keep showing me fish that I have zero chance of finding around here! I AM SO JEALOUS!!!!
Absolutely stunning fish, just grand!

Awww GM72... I don't do it on purpose you know :ezpi_wink1: :ezpi_wink1: If it helps I would get you all the fish you wanted if I lived over there xxxx
Darnit! So I have to move to Canada for Cocoa and move to the Netherlands for you. Maybe half of the year in Canada, the other over there?
I used to date someone who frequented the Netherlands, her best friend was from...don't remember the town/city. I remember her name was Pernelle Bjorn Pyle (or something like that).

Gee it must be nice to have your own shop, Jess lol. I haven't seen them in tanks in easily 25 years, and never, ever in fish shops. Great shot of them.
Funny thing is I was looking at a photo of them in one of my books just yesterday, and was wondering where I could get some.
Tell you what, I'll trade you 24 Chela caeruleostigmata for 24 Poecilocharax weitzmani, whaddya say? LoL.

I feel your pain; live food for ages.
And you think I tempted you with the blue hatchets did you? I could throw in some of my rare suckermouths, maybe eight Pseudolithoxus tigris would sweeten the deal :wink2:
So what are you feeding them now, Daphnia and bugs?

I was told they required blackwater and live food only.
I hope you can get them to take other foods, please keep us posted.

www.corysrus.com had some around Thanksgiving. You could contact them about when the next shipment will be in

Algenco,
How you bought any fish from that site? Selection looks good, I was just curious about your experience with them. If you give them your OK, I'll contact them for a few fish I'm after.
Smaller live food only eaters take a lot of patience, but most will eventually will take prepared and frozens. Took me about 4 months to get my Chela dadyburjori to take anything other than live food. Got them 80-20 prepared to live foods now. Their tankmates C. caeruleostigmata started taking pelleted food within six weeks.

lol, start some rare fish trading!
I might pick up some Nannostomus mortenthaleri as dithers for the Rams from there, nice fish and I can't find them anywhere.

mortenthaleri are stunning - the males can be extremely bright red if kept right... love em...
As for the live food... at the moment they are getting daphnia, fairy shrimp, brine shrimp and fruit flies... I hope they don't take 3 months to move onto frozen... phew!!!
I'll actually pass on the Pseudolithoxus tigris (I have good willpower sometimes but you sure know how to tease LOL) I am setting up a L46 breeding tank at the moment that should pay for the live food for the weitzmani's :ezpi_wink1:

Had to come back and look at this tetra again. I wonder if they have them in the states. I really like these guys. They remind me a lot of the blue eye rainbows with their fins as they are.

They are gorgeous fish Jess, you got it spot on, one sexy tetra! lol If I were a tetra, I'd definately think so!
Good luck with em! It would be great to have your own fish shop to order in the fish that you wanted!
Cheers

Sheesh, Jess, start importing those 46's to the US and you could retire. About 350 US a head here.
How about 20 baby Sturisoma festivum, then lol.
I started mixing pelleted food with live, like I'd dust the flies with asthaxin (NaturRose) and the pellets too. For the longest time the Chela's rejected the pellets to the joy of the Rasboras below, but the blue-and gold guys started taking them more and more until after six weeks, they didn't need the flies to take the pellets. Might work with your little tetras.

I've bought Celestial pearl danios from them and was very satisfied.
They have a group of collectors that they work with, they get some rare fish and everything is quarantined at least 30 days.
With the CPD, I got 6 two different times from my lfs, none lived 24 hrs. I ordered 10 from corysrus and still have all 10
