i went to aquagiant today and they had some cool catfish, i was gonna grab one but suddenly the coolest red devil came out of a ornament, about 8"-9". he was only $30. once i get the 650g built him, the large pacu, baby pacu, oscar, and green terror are going in it.

since he and the blood parrot are both orange the blood parrot is freaking out thinking the RD is another BP

in the pic hes in the bag but he got let out 2 hours ago

Ohhh ok, I didnt realize that because in your photobucket the title of one of the pictures says baby GT and its a picture of the JD or else im just dyslexic and read the wrong title for the wrong picture

lol, i think i must have labeled the picture wrong. thanks for pointing that out!

budman, they had no albinos bigger than 6", only 2", so i went for the RD instead

Very nice cocoa...:thumb: has great colours to it. The 90g is looking pretty cool. thumbs2:

Is your basement big or something??? with all of those tanks and then a 650g coming??? must be one big basement. lol.

cocoa_pleco
02-01-2008, 12:07 AM
yep, its in the basement, the flooring there is concrete so it can hold a 650g

NickFish

Very nice fish! Your lucky, 650 gallon, that's massive!
Be careful it doesn't break trough the concrete lol.
What kinda stand do you have for it? And how many filter you using lol.

cocoa_pleco

for the 650g i was going with 2 fluval FX5, and probably a custom stand.

at first the red devil took the cave and started beating on the oscar and pacu only, just a tad, then he left the oscar alone and wailed on the pacu, and now he leaves everyone alone, just some minor territory staking. took him a day to figure out noone was out to get him and noone cares about his cave

yeah red devils are hard to keep with others if introduced late, they will tear up the tank, their aggressiveness just turns outta nowhere. I'm glad you got a rather mellow one from what it seems.

cocoa_pleco
02-02-2008, 07:09 AM
its actually a good thing i added her last, with agressive fish they should be the last ones in the tank since the current fish would hold their territory against the new agressive fish which makes the agressive fish feel weak. same thing with saltwater, i added my damsel last to prevent any fights

jbeining75
02-02-2008, 07:11 AM
cool I'm glad they are all working out for you.... whens the 650 gallon looking to be completed or still in the planning???

cocoa_pleco
02-02-2008, 07:12 AM
still planning, i might want to move and it would be senseless to build it then tear it down. problem is when you build a tank that size its there for good

jbeining75
02-02-2008, 07:14 AM
you doing plywood/fiberglass, acrylic with plywood framing or what type of plan??

cocoa_pleco
02-02-2008, 07:15 AM
i was thinking about acrylic, but aquagiant here has some nice glass 600g's for a little over a thousand, they had one for their koi

jbeining75
02-02-2008, 07:18 AM
Nice a thousand dollars holy cow.... The 220's here cost a 1000 dollars well thats tank, canopy, and stand. I guess a thousand would just cover just the tank....

Theres a guy here selling a 72 gallon bow for 75 dollars... I want it so bad but it has no stand. For me to order it would be like $240. I could build one but i'd be a pain to make look nice.

Its good that its a female and you added it last, but actually RDs never feel weak! and sometimes they go aggressive suddenly, I mean tonight you see everything is ok and tomorrow morning its killed a fish. but I hope you won't have any trouble there.

Glad she's calmed down a little.
She will defend her cave to the death lol, its the only home it's ever known....
With an oscar and a pacu in there it should be fine, they can stand up for themselves.
