Here are some updated pics of my Kitumbas
It is almost imposible to get a full tank shot in the room that they are in, but I am picking up a larger tank that I am putting in the living room. So there will be more picks next week some time.

Thanks for the replies. They on the most part are a very peacefull fish. The males can reach 14 inches, so that being said they require a large aquarium. At the moment my largest is approx 5.5 inches at 14 months old. They usually tolerate fish with the same water requirements but when they reach a larger size they will eat anything that will fit in their mouths if the opertunity arises. They are mouth brooders and the alpha males will collect a harem. The females sexually mature first between 2 and 2.5 years of age. The males about a year later. I have 10 in 5 ft 120 gal tank at the moment but I am moving them into a 6 ft 125 gal tank that I am picking up this weekend. I eventually want to house them in a 180 or 240 gal tank w/ an alpha & beta male with 6 - 8 females.

Love the fish, sailor. They kind of have that dour look of a parent listening to a child tell a lie lol. They have that down the nose judgmental look.
Great fish. You keep encouraging me to try rift lake species, something I've resisted for decades (sort of a death before disco sort of thing).

LoL sailor. Reason I've not delved into rift lake species is in the late 70's and early 80's when all those extravagant Rift Lake Ciclids were the red-hot thing in every shop, and the little SA Cichlids I was keeping were shunted aside, I began to detest the sight of anything from the rift lakes. Even though the water from my tap is 8.2 and rock hard, I still resist, I still resist lol. I ain't gonna. So there. (Can you tell the resistance is crumbling yet?)

Very nice!

I was gonna go with cichlids...I think it was #2 on my planning list...

Maybe one day...

But for now I'll stick with what I have...plus I have a custom frag tank coming...that should keep me happing and occupied for a long time!
