Heres some pictures of the light that I built myself. Its a 4$ stainless steel mixing bowl, with a 3 way bulb socket and three-26watt spiral compact fluourescents.

Whats everybody think?

I wish you'd move that dang tank outta the way lol...

are those neons or cardinals

01-28-2008, 04:55 AM
12 cardinals, they are tiny, and seem to love life very much

I have much bigger pictures, but the upload requires me to compress them a lot. Is there a way around this?

Not unless you put them in your photo gallery. There is no limit on size there

I think it looks great :19: Very inventive.... luckily I am immune to the lovely Brooke Burke so I could actually look at the tank LOL

I think you hanging light is blocking the view. That is a very cheap way to get good light for your aquarium, which is good of course. I like the driftwood.

Make sure your tank is not getting direct light from that window.

Shes so hot....i mean your tanks so hot..er beautiful haha

01-28-2008, 02:59 PM
well.......whats to say about that photo....hmm...lets just say that i noticed the girl "Brooke Burke" but then after a few seconds i was like "o the tank yes"....very nice tank..i like what you have done with it. :thumb:

Thanks for the compliments all, I live in a fraternity house so the tank gets tons of attention, and I keep it very clean.

If anyone is interested in building a similar light, it was rather easy to get all the parts and assemle it safely.

Oh, and no issues with the window, the tank gets minimal light from there, and it is entirely indirect/reflections.
