i have a 20G aquarium with a couple of white cloulds, a twig cat, and a south american puffer. i just got the puffer, and he seems to like his new home.. he loves the corners, and the side of the tank. all he dose is swim back and fourth, up and down against the glass. is this normal?
i have been trying to feed him krill, but he won't eat. all he wants to do is swim along the side of the tank.
do i have the right food?

Honestly as long as you get him to eat this is normal. Have you tried to feed him any other foods, like small sinking pellets or maybe flake foods. Just be sure to clean up any uneaten food. Fish can live a week or longer without food so you still have time expecially if hes active.

most puffers will onyl accept live meaty foods. But they will also take frozen. Do you have some frozen blood worms?? they love them. Frozen brine shrimp/live brine shrimp, white worms, and other meaty foods, black worms, etc....

Your Puffer is a Colomesus Asselus - they grow to 6 inches and thankfully one of the more non aggressive puffers.
The problem with Asselus are that they have one of the fastest growing teeth in all puffers so they REALLY need snails daily or their teeth are going to grow too long and he will no longer be able to eat and starve.
Feed him snails daily as well as meaty foods such as frozen bloodworms, brine shrimp, cockles, mussels, earthworms.
He needs a larger tank and needs sturdy tankmakes in case he does nip.
Puffers are sensitive souls and intelligent and need stimulation and good living space otherwise they will remain stressed and only swim up and down the glass all day long.
I don't know any puffer that accepts flake...
If his teeth do grow too long you will have to do some dentistry on him...

make sure that the snails do not have a trapdoor. Most of the time these snails are pests and take over the tank so if your LFS has them then you might beable to take them off of their hands or get them for CHEAP.

try a flowerpot, put the pot in on its side so the pot is laying down and put a big stone in, its another idea that might help, youres sounds like mine was(i lost him a little while ago :( ) i feed him big worms, prawns, you need to feed them with live food, the other food i forgot is maggots, sounds yuk but they enjoy them, the behaviour does sound odd but mine did it for about a week going up and down the side of the tank then blowing himself up,then he was ok,it maybe youres needs to settle, good luck!!:c3:

my 2 Bee Puffers will only eat blood worms (frozen cubed) they will not under any circumstances eat anything else! try this and see what happens!
