View Full Version : Dark Spot on Apple Snail

A few days ago, I noticed a dark spot on my apple snail. I'm not sure what it is, but it doesn't look good. She just laid a bunch of eggs, so she must be in okay shape, but I don't want this to get worse (assuming it's a problem). Here's a pic:

Bill,
Its either an egg or an algae spot, depending on if its in the snail or on the snail. Apple snails move eggs down their body like that. If he was brown you'd never see them.

what's the fish in the background?

Corydoras trilineatus. One of the common dwarf armored catfish.

okay, now I have no idea which one I have, It is one of those two...

Of course Dave is correct. That is a trilineatus. It's not terribly difficult to tell it apart from a julii. Here's some pics.

Notice how the markings on the trilineatus form lines and on the julii they are more like random dots.
