I recommend that on the front page of the site we have A (Latest Forum Topics) section where it shows all the new threads that just came out and are "fresh and poppin".

What is your definition of the front page of the site?

This:
www.aquaticcommunity.com

or

This:
www.aquaticcommunity.com/aquariumforum/

?

This site also hosts a ton of species profiles and articles. That is basically what this site is for. The forum is just a side addon. If you want to see the new posts, just go to www.aquaticcommunity.com/aquariumforum/ and click new posts.

we had that on another forum that a friend of mine made, it was nice for that small little forum community. I think there are simply too many posts going on at once for it to really be effective

And it is rare that everytime you hit it a new post hasn't been put up.

Yeah the new post button is my best friend. Or you can subscribe to posted threads to keep track. But new threads usually get answered very fast from what i've seen.

Adding what you ask for to the front page would slow down the main page. ( just a little, but still) and the forum is as has allready been said a side addon so I don't think I will add recent post to the first page.

You will get the newest topics if you set your options setting in USER CP for say a week, 2 weeks, etc, and then you will see only the newest posts.
