I am still researching equipment for a 125 gallon plant / fish tank.
Any advice on filters, heaters? Has anyone had problems with Eheim filters?

Most will say to avoid the Under Gravel Filters. Personally all my tanks have a UGF I prefer to have them and have yet to have issues with plants in the tanks. Mind you I don't plant HEAVY like some do either.

The Link in my sig to Zoban's Main is a 50Gal with three tower UGF and an Ehien 2217 Canister filter. Have never had any issues with Ehiem or Fluval.

Are yours reverse flow? That is what I am thinking of doing. I can then run my fertilizer and Co2 through the reverse flow. That would give the plants more time to take up the fertilizer and Co2 and give the roots a shot at it too. I am thinking it would also help keep the substrate in better condition. The other benefit is that it would give more time for the Co2 to disolve in the water.

It depends largely on which plants you keep in the tank. Some plants works well with undergravel filters but some do not which is why I don't recommend them for planted tanks.
