View Full Version : Current in guppy tank
Hi, Ive got a brand new tank and I just added 3 guppies yesterday, I didnt notice when the tank was empty, but there seems to be quite a strong current created by the filter. Is there a way to tell if the current is too strong for the guppies? Is it likely to cause them stress?
Any help would be really great!
Thanks, beej

If they are just being pushed around by the current and try to hide from it all the time then it is too strong. My bio-wheel puts out a good current in my tank and my Endler's (similar to guppies) love it. They swim in it all the time.

i agree the fish would have trouble swimming
my live breeders also love it
Thanks for your advice! they dont hide from it, it just slows them down if they try to swim against it so i guess they'll be ok. Maybe im being overprotective :S
Thanks again

I think guppies like current, at least this one likes it

uh, if you read the description, they died a short time later, so maybe not
that could be from anything.
and read the comments on the video, it sounds like the fish were tossed into the tank after 2 days of being running.

I use a power head in my 29 gallon to give it current at night and I catch my harlequin rasboras swimming in it for 10 mins at a time or so. They love it.
