A dumb question! How does the reputation system work here? What do the little green dots represent? How do I know how many rep points I have. Thanks for bearing my stupid questions.
I would also like to know how it works, as other sites I am on don't use it, and it would be nice to know what it does.

People give you points for good posts. You find out how many points you have under your cp. And you give them by clicking the weight thing on the right side corner of the post.

And the green thing is for every 100 points.

Click on UserCP, control panel then scroll down and you will see your rep points listed there and how many you have.
