Flowerhorn questions

Okay, I have a few questions about flowerhorns. First off how big of a tank do they need. Second are the a community, semi agrissive, or agressive fish? Third would one be find with an oscar? Last how much i the average cost of one?

At least a 55g should be fine.
Highly aggressive fish, not recommended to keep it with any other fish. maybe you can keep it in community with other aggressive and big fish in a big tank when its young, but deadly fights are not unexpected!

like other fish they have different personality, one might get along in a community with no problem. one of my friends have had a full grown male FH for a long time, its totally sociable, even doesn't eat fish smaller than his mouth. its an exception but most of them at last show their wildness in a deadly manner.

I don't know the price where you are, but valuable ones are expensive. if you want to get one, first make sure you know the specifications of a good FH, coloration, head hump, scales, fins, ....

Okay so if I got some fish the were semi agressive or community and put with a FH would it be okay, or does it depend on the fish's personality. Also would a 50g be fine.

I just passed up a flowerhorn, full grown, due to lack of space. I'd have had to get another 55 gallon (at least) and already need one for others I have now that need moving.

I don't recommend to keep FH with semi aggressive fish in 50g. when its small (for example less than 3-4" ) it maybe get along with them but most of the time they won't when get bigger.
i think 50g is minimum for 1 full grown FH ( and no other fish ).

a good way to keep them is putting divider in a tank and get 2 males each side. ( at least 50g for each fullgrown one ). this way they raise bigger head hump and get better colors.

or at least if its alone put a mirror out of one side of the tank to see himself. he will think its another one.

So if they see another FH they get a bigger hump and better colors, cool. I talked to my parents and the said we might look into getting one. But we aren't setting up the 50g until spring time. :(
