amphibian recommendations?

20g

-2 pictus catfish
-1 black ghost knife fish(he's getting changed into a 155g when he outgrows the 20)
-and 2 clown loaches soon

-plant in one corner
-pirate ship decor(the two pictus cats share it)

my question is, what would be a good amphibian to live with them?

turtles, frogs, anythings fine, I just feel like mixing up the variety a bit:hmm3grin2orange:

Let's start with the fact that the pictus need a larger swimming space and both the pictus and the clown loaches will outgrow that 20 gallon tank very quickly. Adding more to that tank at this point is not particularly a good idea.

Definitly not turtles, they get big.

Theirs the Asian dwarf frogs, or have you thought about newts?

I toyed with this idea only a week ago, my lfs had some fire bellied newts and they were sooooo good looking.

I cant remember the details but I concluded that my tropical setups were unsuitable because of the enviroment my other stock required, temp and beach area type provision.

Other people may be able to offer accounts of mixing amphibians with tropical fish and possible had sucess but I reluctantly concluded that it was a bad idea for me.

well i'll probably just end up moving the pictus cats (as well as the loaches) to the 155g once i get it cycled, and just put some smaller fish in the 20 (tetra's, etc.), so what you say is a good fit for the 20?

All those fish should be moved to the 155.

Turtles are reptiles, not amphibians.

With very small stuff like tetras you could try the dwarf frogs (which are from Africa). Other than that there are not many options. Most are too aggressive, need cooler temps, need land, etc.

If you don't put any fish in the 20g you can do a couple african clawed frogs, they get about as big as a fist.

as long as you have some land firebelly toads are good, they dont require much and are literally almost impossible to kill
