Sorry m8, I beg to differ.
I had 15 tiger barbs, all about 1" to 1 1/2". I threw in 15 green tiger barbs they were very small only maybe 1/2". The greens hung about in the heavy vegitation for quite a while maybe a month, then they started to school on there own for a month. Now they are about just over an inch they school with the tigers, fight with the tigers, eat with the tigers, show out to the tigers etc etc, the only difference between them is the colour and a slight variation in size.

I also have a single Ruby Barb, now he (or she) dosnt school with the rest of the pack. It swims with them every now and then but I wouldnt count it as schooling.

Well thats whats going on in my 55 gal

Hard to tell and you won't know unless you try it. I've had several kinds of tetra's that wouldn't school together at all. Each schooled but within their own kind.
