Red Tailed Shark

Hi,

Is there any way to get a RTS that is being a major bully (mostly at feeding times) to be less aggressive to the other fish?
I currently have a RTS, a Bala Shark, a Rosy Barb and an Otocinclus together. The RTS is very aggressive towards the Barb and the Bala especially at feeding times.
I'm hoping that maybe there is some way to get him to back down a bit. Perhaps by intoducing some more fish, some that will hold their own against him but that won't just go after the Barb and the Bala as well.

Any Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

depending on the size of your tank a way is to by more of the same species u have so that he spreads his rage out out among more fish which means less damage for each individual fish, or add more hiding places so that they may retreat

his attacking might meen he's not getting enough food i dont know how much you feed him of course. it might meen the tank has to many fish depending on how big the tank is or he's just aggressive it also could be theres not enough live plant who knows

I am just wondering why you put a thread about RTS's in predatory fish? They are really a fish from the minnow family.

Red-tailed sharks are also territorial. So it may be that the tank might be too small for the population and the RTS has claimed the entire tank as his territory.

You might want to redecorate the tank, using the decorations and plants to create new territories for everyone. That may force the RTS to only claim a small portion of the tank instead of the whole thing.

I agree with minabird. He might be attached to a particular decoration, or even place, in your tank. Shuffle things around a bit. He shouldget used to the other fish around his new territory, and then he will calm down.

Are you talking about red tailed "catfish" not shark? Can you post a pic of this guy? If its a red tailed catfish there is nothing you can do to make him stop bullying. He will bully anything and everything, including his own kind. They will everything that can kit into their mouths. They can even bite their owners if you don't watch out. They also grow to be several feet long to boot. They must be kept in a solitary tank that's hundreds of gallons. His tankmates will be his dinner as soon his mouth gets big enought swollow them.
