i bought a peacock eel today spontaneously (he was half off, only four dollars, i couldn't resist) and after i got home did some research (i know that is backwards) i am wondering if he will be ok in my 10 gallon tank. he seems to be doing well so far, good color, not to timid. there are some plants and lots of places to hide. aside from him i have a danio, a beta and two corys.
let me know what you think.

Had a couple of them. Lived in my 46g until I got tired of them uprooting all my plants daily (caves or not, they will burrow down into your gravel). Moved them to the 29g (no plants at the time) but started putting plants as my 46g ones grew and were clipped back. Same problem over there. Gave them away.

i would probably get a bigger tank for him, at least a 33g+

I'm not sure if your fish are in safety with a fish like that..

as long as the eel gets fed he shouldnt chase other small fish, but in a 10g he would be very tempted to attack

I would get him into a bigger tank as soon as possible.

At only a foot it is not the biggest spiney eel, but too large for a 10. Even something as small as a 20long should be good if properly maintained.

What tetras?

My tiretrack is well fed but still decides to nip at some of them sometimes.

did some research, he is actually a danio choprae.

i don't have another fish tank, should i try and return the peacock eel?

if you have no other fish in there he should be fine for a while

i gave him to a more reputable pet store in chicago, old town aquarium, i'd also highly recommend it. i got some more danios and two threadfin rainbows.
