I have been working on my first aquarium and the plan was to make it look as natural as possible, and to get it to work in the best way possible for the fish I will eventually place in there (no idea what type yet).

I wanted to place EVERYTHING behind the BTN background, so I needed to decide where to put the intake and the outlet. I did but I think I have made a mistake. I cut the intake hole in the background in the place I thought would look best in the tank, But having sat and thought about it I think I should have placed it nearer to the side of the tank.

I'm now going to lose 25-26cm behind the background, where the filter material will be instead of only 14cm if the intake had been placed differently. Will this make a big difference in the way the tank and more importantly the filter works ?

I could probably repair the intake I have cut and make a new one if ness, any ideas ?. Once I sort this out and know it is going to work I can then fit the background into the tank. Any help OR advise will be greatly appreciated.

Thank's in advance
Tony.

Cutting down on the filter area behind will mean less cleaning and bacteria holding so I wouldn't comprimise that much... best is to use some silicone and close the hole you made and do another - I presume it is near the ground so even if it looks a tiny bit messy plants or wood will cover up your previous hole.

I loooooooooove BTN backings - which one have you got? The Amazon?
