....CO2! Now, the "recipe" says use yeast, warm water, and sugar. Exactly how much sugar and yeast should I use with 1 liter of water?

Hello? Sorry I am a little impatient......

1 1/2-2 cups sugar, i/2 tsp baking soda, 1/4 tsp yeast.
Some recipes call for more yeast, more yeast gives more gas but doesn't last as long.
Baking soda keeps the ph up longer, resulting in production lasting longer

I can turn the CO2 off at night- I have the powerhead on a timer. Do I still need the baking soda?

you don't have to use it. How are you turning the CO2 off ?

Ummm, I don't really know. Now that I think about, I guess I am not. I thought when the powerhead turns off it would block CO2 from coming in the tank, but it doesn't. I have baking soda, if it helps. If it doesn't really do anyhing, but it does a little, I will still use it.

during the chemical reaction acids are produced lowering the ph and eventually killing the yeast. The baking soda delays and/or prevents this from happening in most cases nearly doubling the life

Well, i couldn't find the baking soda. But I just mixed everything else. How long is the life without the BS? I was planning on changing it every month.

The longest I have gotten out of a CO2 mix is 2.5 weeks. Haven't tried the BS yet.

Well, when I see less bubbles than normal I will change it. Thanks guys.

I have read every section on there. I actually read that first before asking on this forum. You don't have to worry anymore- I already mixed the CO2.
