Well, after spending a few days in my daughters 10gal, I tested the water on my newly started 30gal (up and coming) Discus tank. Thanks to an established filter, 1/2 the water from an established tank, and several rocks from the established tank, the new aquarium is good to go! I finally got My new ray (Hucklebuck) into his new home! My daughters tank is set at 74 degrees, with the Discus tank currently sitting at 82. I placed Hucklebuck in our fish bucket, and slowly mixed water between the bucket and the aquarium, to allow him to adapt to his new water. I got him in last night, and he seems nice and happy! Checked on him this morning, and he's doin well! I'm new to "boneless fish" so I was very nervous about hurting him while switching him around, but I took my time, and he's good to go! I'll take some pictures and post them up tonight! :19:

The ray is in the 30? Soon to be with discus?

Will the ray end up in the 280?
What species of ray?

Eventually it will end up in the 280. I haven't gotten the species. I was planning on getting it last night, but my fiance went to the fish store before she got home, so I wasn't goin back out lol They said it will get to be about 5-6" across. I'll grab the exact name tonight if I can get out there

I would wait on that discus until you get the larger tank. Sometimes things happen and our plans don't fall in place as we'd like and a discus is pretty large for a 30 gallon.

Well, I have a spare 75gal sitting around, just no room for it at the moment. So when they outgrow the 30, I have a tank already lined up! :11:

Hahaha. I use my daughters 10gal as a little home for waiting fishes too. Its the "be patient, your tank is cycling" area. I just thought its funny you do it to.

lol tell me about it! She's usually pretty excited to have some new fish in there, even if it's only for alittle while! ...until the new fish start eating the old fish... Then it's game over for me :14:

OK, after doing some research on the gool ol' web, I am led to believe that Hucklebuck is a Potamotrygon reticulatus. Not 100% and I'll get a definate word soon enough, but these are preliminary findings!

Well, I have new pictures, but for some reason it won't let me upload them to the post. I'll try to get them in my albums...

That is the most common species. However, they get larger than 6" in diameter. They are more likely to be 10-12" in diameter. Is it a male or female?
