I have one platy that is huge. She looks like she has two yellow balls on each side of her stomach she's so fat but has been fat forever, it seems.
How long before these things have their babies. I think she's been pregnant longer than I was!

Hahahaha I once had a couple of platies and I had one female who was forever pregnant - with daily looks from me thinking 'she is defo gonna pop tomorrow' with another week going by and nothing - when I had stopped thinking about it I found a tank full of fry and was quite shocked she had finally done it...
The gestation period is 4 weeks but I am more than sure she went longer... I then read somewhere that some females can keep from giving birth for quite a long time - some even die from not giving birth - they need to feel comfortable to just give birth... don't know for sure if that is true... livebearers are weird!!
The worst is the storing of sperm so even if you remove the males they get pregnant all over again after having babies with no men in sight <sighs>
