We are battling ick which is on our pictus catfish, no signs of ick on the red tailed shark. We just performed a 50% water change, trying to keep the water temperature as close to 85 as possible during the procedure. After filling the tank back up we noticed that our red tailed had just died. My flower garden is becoming a cemetery for fish. Usually we only do 25% water changes at a time but since we have the ick and the nitrates had risen to 40 we decided to do 50% this time. Could the stress of the water change have killed him? I'm about ready to give up on aquariums all together. We keep trying to do the best we can for these little guys and it looks like we are losing the battle.
