the other day i was at my LFS and was looking at the little iridescent sharks and someone asked me what would be the minimum tank requirement for 1 and i didn't know...and i can't find anything on the internet. So i thought i would just ask.....so..whats the minimum tank requirement for a iridescent shark????

like 200g, they get HUGE. i had one but i sold him because he couldnt have lights on, he would freak out. theyre very gentle though

yeah i figured it was about that size cuase can't they top out at 39"???? and they are community fish correcy??? or well can live with community fish??

Yeah, they get pretty huge, almost channel cat size (though not the Red River monsters ... ).

As far as community fish goes, it better be one huge community. I have trouble seeing a big catfish not gobbling up anything that fits in its mouth ... and iridescents have pretty big mouths.

Yes... ALL catfish, except for some plecos..

I had 2 of them lil ones, first died of ich shortly after buying it, second gave bak to the lfs after i found out how big they get.

I think it would more along the lines of 1000+ gallons.
They get huge (like 3 or 4 feet).

If I'm not mistaken, these are also schooling fish. Imagine the size of the tank you would need for 5 4' catfish... whew! :help:

IMO any fish over 3 feet need big tanks.

you dont need a 1000 gallon tank for that fish. They dont get over 3ft, they can get up to 3ft. usually its 2 1/2 from my understanding.

Also, they raise gian gouramis and eat them. Tasty.

Gouramis I've heard of being eaten and also arowanas but plecos? That's gross! I can't imagine seeing one of those things on my plate. Lol I'll never be able to get that image out of my head.

I have a Paroon Shark that in the wild can get to 9'. They eat them in Korea. Apparently, they feed the fish dog carcasses. My 14" one won't even eat a friggin gold fish
