hi,is a five gallon suitable for only two platys, and if they breed.can
the fry stay in the main tank in a breeder net.and when they get bigger put
them in a five galllon hex.and then upgrade to a much bigger tank.

If you know you are going to upgrade later, why not do it now? It will save you the ~100 or so that you will spend on the 5 gallon that will soon not be used.

i agree with drum...just upgrade to the larger aquarium...unless you want to have a 5g running and another tank.

sounds like a good idea, if you can for sure move them later.

I use hydro/sponge filters 4in in a few five gallon tanks-have raised as many as 5 pairs of guppie to adult size before I thinned them out. I made perodic w/c and they did just fine.
