crabs like some of these http://www.aquacon.com/crabs.html with the shells that they host in....do you need a special kinds of shells around the tnak for them??? or can they be any old shell????

If you shop around the net you can find old marine snail shells for such things. You can also buy them in gift shops and such for pennies, but make dead sure its just the shell and its not covered with shellac or polyethylene or anything. They need to have an opened end so the crab can get his rear in when he grows and needs a new home.
You can do better for those hermit prices on that site. You want the blue legs and scarlets for your tank. I especially like the blue legs for a smaller tank, as they are little guys, about an inch long.
I can watch little hermits doing their thing in my tanks all day. Cute little guys (and girls, I'm assuming).

ok...so any old shell theat is bigger than their old one that they can get in and that has no chemicals on it i can use???

Haha I had a large turbo snail and it died, and one of my BL hermts grabbed the shell....silly little buggers
