I was recentley given a cichlid from a freind who had to shut down his system. I am having trouble figuring out what it is tho, Ive search everywhere i can online, but no luck, maybe someone could help me.

all i was told when he gave it to me was that the fish is tanganyikan and it is preety rare,

cant get a picture of him so i will describe.

He is light brown collored with a dark criss cross patern across the side of him, he has a very long dorsal fin , on his head he has almost a leopard pattern. There is an orange streak behind each eye, and the corner of the mouth.
I know its not a lot of info but any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks guy/gals?

to be thruthfull im not 100% its from tanganyika, but that is what my freind was told by the LFS which the fish came from, The most distinguishing part of the fish is the lorange strip that runs horizontal behind both eye, and the corner of both sides of the mouth, thanks for any inpput guy/gals

I can't find this fish in my Cichlids book, so it is a newer fish or it is not from lake Tanganyika, my book is about 10 years old.

If this is your fish, he is beautiful although I don't think I would be putting my hand in there especially with those beautiful teeth!!!!

truth be told he is fairly docile , doesnt really mess with any of my malawis, but deff. is territorial, and moves allot of the smaller rocks in my tank, great fish!
