40 gallon hex

Well, my mom bought me a 40 gallon hex. Has anyone here had experience with any of the Rena products? I bought an XP1 filter and began cycling and what not. Is this sufficient for that tank? As for air pumps is there a huge difference? Ive been using tetra whisper pumps for awhile...I work at petsmart, but I dont really trust some of my co-workers opinions because I get mixed ones.....so I came here hehe

rena canisters are good, as for air pumps any one will do as long as its quiet
