Got these 2 Rams 4 days ago now and finally got some decent pics

I was told they're Butterfly Rams (right?)
They're the only two in the fish store and had seen them there for more than a month, so i reseached and got them.

1st: Smaller one (1")
2nd: Bigger one (2")
3rd: Both
4th: Rainbow Shark ( he snuck in )

What ya'll think?! :11:

Those look like Bolivian Rams to me. Great fish, in warmer water they color up nicely.

12-30-2007, 09:52 PM

From the pictures I would say those are definitely Bolivian rams. Make sure you keep them in warm water(low 80's) to see them in they're best color. Anyways nice fish!!

12-30-2007, 11:11 PM
thanks the aquarium is at 80 i might raise to 81 or 82 and see what happens!!

Very nice rams.
They should get pretty colorful as they warm up to tank and their surroundings.

12-31-2007, 02:46 PM
very nice pics!!

12-31-2007, 03:41 PM
thanks :11:

Hey Tolley! you did get rams! very nice. The smaller one is still just a baby, so his true colors wont come for a few months. The second one looks lke almost an adult. Try warming the tank up to 84 or 85f, they will colorup and be much healthier. And yes, they are bolivian rams.

12-31-2007, 06:14 PM
yup!! will the other fish be alright with a higher temp?

12-31-2007, 06:16 PM
Probably. if they start gaspin at the surface, lower the temp/.

12-31-2007, 06:18 PM
ok thanks i'll look out for that, also i'll slowly raise it over a few days.

12-31-2007, 06:23 PM
aww they looks so cute, and good idea raising it slowly, i would do just 1-2 degrees a day

12-31-2007, 06:43 PM
Yea...definetly don't raise it to fast. By the way how much were they? My lfs has them for $8.50 apiece

12-31-2007, 06:59 PM
erm well they were priced at £3 each ( bout $6 each?)
but my lfs always give me money off :D!! so i got them for £2 each! ( $4 each? )

Ok so now my temps at 83, my other fish are cool with it.

The Rams are looking great!!! They both have those nice pink fins with light blue edging also the black patches are much more dense.

I could only get 1 half decent pic and it still doesn't do justice but here it is...

Nice fish. Nice pic. How do you get money off your fish(going to have to look in to that)?

01-03-2008, 09:26 PM
its a private store, the owner does more for his love of fish rather than the money.

01-03-2008, 09:36 PM
Awww thats nice. gotta love those kinda people. but how do you get him to take some money off the sale price?

01-03-2008, 09:38 PM
i don't do anything lol, i'll jus pick out everything i want he'll jus say summit like 'gimme a fiver and that'll do' lol

01-03-2008, 09:38 PM
Looking good dude!

01-03-2008, 09:39 PM
thanks!!! thumbs2:

01-03-2008, 09:45 PM
Thats really cool that he cares more about the fish than the money. Theres not many people like that left. Keep up the good work on the fish

01-03-2008, 09:48 PM
Yeah it is and thanks!

01-03-2008, 09:52 PM
Another tip to get them to color up, feed frozen bloodworms once a week. They love it.

01-03-2008, 09:54 PM
yeah i try to feed all my fish bloodworms once a week... by try i mean sometimes forget to lol
