They are not hard to breed and I did so a few times when I still had them...
Wait til they are mature so you can sex them - wait for a female to get nice and plump & fat and then place her with a male of your choice in a seperate tank.
They scatter their eggs so you need to put a mesh up or loads of marbles where the eggs can fall through without mama and papa being able to eat them
Remove the parents and once the little ones are free swimming start to feed them.
It's as easy as that :19:

Around the 2 inches... just keep your eyes out for plumper females... be aware though that they can scatter upto 300 to 500 eggs at a time!! I learnt the hard way LOL

The male has smaller yellow stripes between his black lines than the female, whereas the females have a background of silver. Females also tend to be rounder and more wide.

If you can devote a tank to them, place lots of java moss in with them and let them go, You'll still get plenty of babies

Feed often. When the femals get really fat with eggs, move them into a bare tank with marbles and large round pepples as the substrate. Move them in the evening time. Leave them there for two nights, then remove them promptly. About a day later, you should see little black slivers on the glass. That's the fry. Dont feed them till they become free swimming. Then start them on baby brine shrimp and microworms. Then you can feed egg yolk foods and powdered flakes. Then keep the water clean and they should grow quickly. That's how I bred them.
