View Full Version : what kind of catfish is this?
Im trying to get a decent picture of him, but he never stays still, and is always playing in the bubbles, but I will put up the ones I have
It is about 6 inches long, dark grey on the bottom, and light grey on the bottom.
it has a tall but not very long dorsal fin, and a vert long and tall anal fin, a wide mouth on the front of its face, and short whiskers.
anyone got any ideas, or links to pictures?

Yeah me neither...Try catching him in a net and put it in a ziploc or small bag/bowl where he wont be able to move..

Does you fish look like this?

EDIT: If the link wont work, just go on google and type in ``iridescent shark`` and click images.
If that`s what it is, well obviously its an iridescent shark.
What size tank and what filtration are you using?
EDIT AGAIN- Is that a lemon in your tank? lol.

iridescent shark is the first thing that came to my mind also. They get pretty big. How big is your tank?

haha, ok i was putting it lightly. I hope you have a 55g at LEAST, although a 75g would be better.

They dont really look appealling to me when they get adult size, their eyes are wayy too big.
I like it alot, and its a 55 gallon tank with a penguin 170 on it, but I want to add some kind of supplamentary filtration to it, as that filter is just too small.
and its a orange for the gold fish, they love it, and its fun to watch them eat it.
also, thanks for identifying him for me, that is what I cam up with yester day when I was looking on google but he looks a little different, but I will look some more.

Tropfish,
Depending on the species, you'd be looking at a 2 to 4 foot constantly swimming catfish, neither of which has any business in a 75 gallon.
Dave
looks like I have something to shoot for

Heres another picture for thought, its also an iridescent shark aka Pangasius Catfish
http://animal-world.com/encyclo/fresh/catfish/pangasius.php
the head looks very different on that one than tha one I have.
I think i am going to get rid of it and get about 3 more leapord cory's and another kind of smaller schooling fish.
thanks again everyone.
