After 4 lfs visits, i finally found one! He was the last one too! So hes about 3 inches long, looking pretty good. Hes going in the 5g quarantine tank for 3 or 4 days. Then with the big boys in the 25g. I was wondering, this fish looks kind of small, no longer than your pinky. So i was wondering if i could add another one to go in the 25g with him? Maybe hw would be better off in a group? He just got in the 5g so he isnt moving too much. Unless they`re super active, anyone think it could work? And also, I give my turles frozen shrimp from the supermarket, could i give a small piece or two to this guy as a treat?

Thanks and happy hollidays!

*ps. to make sure their isnt any confusion, this is NOT the pictus catfish that reaches a foot long. This would be the one that reaches 5 inches.*

Those are still VERY active and 25s are not really enough. I would not add another. What do you plan on feeding it?

Agreed that the tank is not large enough. They are active swimmers and prefer company of their own.

Ditto about the tank size issues.

I thought they preferred company of their own when they were juveniles but as they age they become more solitary. Am I confusing this with a different species?

Wait, im pretty sure that at adult size they can only be kept by themself, not in groups. But when they are little they need to be in groups, is this correct?

I have 4 Pictus Catfish, 2 in a 33g tank and 2 in a 20g tank and when they were little they were super active and loved to be all together...as they got older and larger they were fighting constantly for their own territory so I seperated them. Sometimes they swim together like buds and other times not so friendly. Yes they will eat just about anything. I give them flake food and bloodworms and sinking shrimp pellets and Krill pellets and Spirullina pellets. They're not fussy. My guys are about 5" long now and will soon be moved to a larger tank. Hope this helps...LeeAnn:22:

Thanks for that link! You guys think Wardleys algae wafers are any good? Or should i get omega one algaae wafers?

And are the algae wafers enjoyed more by corys then algae pellets? Thanks

NLS for them all.

Wardley is not very good at all. I am not a fan od Omega One either though. Cories are a bottom scavenger, not an algae eater. So algae wafers are not the best thing for them, but they will eat them.
