Halllllo

For the past two years, I've had this six inch catfish in my aquarium.
Despite every identification book I've read and every website I've been to, I CANNOT figure out what species he is. It really is not a big deal, but you have no idea how much this is bothering me.

I'm assuming he's predatory, because he has three sets of whiskers, the longest pair being about four inches long.
He hides out all day, but when I turn the light off, he's the first fish out.
As far as conformation, he looks just like a Pictus Catfish, but the part that confuses me is that he's not spotted. He's a dull blue color with a strong silver hue, he has a dark blue circular dot right behind his gills, and he has an iridescent blunt white stripe from his gills to his tail.
I was also changing the gravel a little while ago, and I attempted to capture him but once I got him in the net and lifted him out of the water, he started making this buzzing sound.

I enticed him to come out by feeding with the lights off, but I only managed to get a few pictures of a bad quality.

Ahhhh oh my gosh thank you so much.
I only have one. I wasn't sure if I should get more because I didn't know what he was and if he was solitary or not. The place where I got him did not have an identification tag thing.

I have not touched him at all since I changed the gravel that one day, I just kind of leave him alone because in all honesty he kind of scared me haha.
I give him just regular tropical fish flakes..he seems to be doing okay on that.

You should also drop shrimp pellets in thier too. What other fish do you have in the tank.

A big rainbow shark that shares the same territory and gets along well with him. I also have seven danios that swim around on the top all day.

bloodworms and krill would also be good for all of your fish

It is not a silver tipped shark. It is related to pictus cats, kind of looks like an ornate pictus. Definitely a Pimedolus sp.. You can take a look through planetcatfish to see which one matches best.

The best food would be New Life Spectrum. If I couldn't get NLS I would feed Hikari Sinking Carnivore Pellets.

Wish I'd seen this post earlier before it went off on a shark tangent. The original poster's fish is Pimelodus blochii. Fishguy was on the right track; he was right about the Genus.

You owe me as I had to look it up. Four-lined Pim. Comes in several color variations depending on where it was collected.
