School of Neon Tetras

What is the minimum number of Neons suggested for a school whether it be a 10g or bigger? Thanks.

Neons are very nice in large groups. The larger the group the more attractive.

I plan on putting them in my 29g tank, so I can't get too large of a school.

Depends on what else is going in with them. I had 2 dozen in my 29 gallon.

They will be going in a 29g Tank with 6 Leopard Danios, 3 Otos, 6 Pygmy Cories, 2 Panda Cories, Java Fern and Moss.

get at least six of them. If you can stock a little bit more the better.

I think you could go with a good 10-12 and maybe more. There bio-load is pretty small.

Yeah, I would say 10 to 12 would be fine. As long as you maintain your water parameters well and perform regular water changes. What kind of filter are you using?

I have no idea what my filter system is. It is ancient. Its at least meant for 30 gallons, and it holds filters that range from 30 to 60 gallons. So going by all the information, I will be getting 10 neons when my tank levels out from the addtion of the cories. Thank you all.

I agree with everyone, 6+ is ideal, but 4-5 will be fine, esp if you have more females than males
