How hard is it over all to keep a brackish aquarium? besides dealing with sea salt and hydrometers, how much different is it than owning a freshwater aquarium?

its not too hard, mostly the same decor etc.
if you want live plants you have to check if they can handle the salinity though

It's really not that hard. Just get a refractometer, (my choice over hydro), get the SG to .005-.0010 depending on what fish you choose. SG is at .005 1 cup salt per 5g. depending on the Marine salt you use. Please test, ...different brands, do make a difference.
I think it's easier, I just do the WC and have prepared water to put back in. And the plus is: even if there is a flex in the SG. BW fish don't care. It' a natural "thang". for them.
Hopefully Tigerbarb, you'll change your mind.

wow...1 cup per 5g??? thats not a whole lot. lol. Keeping brackish is really easy. I just love my fiddler crab tank.
EDIT - i think that water sprite can tolerate salt but not 100% sure.

Wow, I just got fiddler crabs, too! It really doesn't seem all that difficult to me either. I just hope I can go out and buy marine salt soon! :-\

Are you certain about the sea salt ratio? I have been told by many "experts" and read in other sites that BW is 1 TSP per 5g of water. Have I been mislead all this time?
