View Full Version : How often should i feed my neon tetras?

The lady at the fish shop said once every few days. Is this correct?

Everyone uses different feeding schedules, I personally feed 1 or 2 times a day depending on the schedule around here. Watch your fish when you feed them....feed them just enough that they eat up what you put in immediately...and try at least once a day. As long as they are eating what you feed them and it isn't sinking to the bottom to rot feeding once a twice a day is good. I usually feed frozen foods in the morning...flake and sinking pellets/wafers at night and the neons along with my other tetras always come to have a bite to eat.

neon tetras are omnivorous and are constantly foraging and grazign in the wild. this dictates that in captivity small frequent feedings (2-4 times a day ideally) are the best option. large feeding every few days are really only for obligate carnivores like the big south and central american cichlids.
