View Full Version : A very odd pairing!

I have a lone surviving fry "Lucky" from a pair of my sunset Platys. He's rather small still - maybe about 4 or 5 months old, but he holds his own among the other male Platys. There are two others. He has recently taken a shine to my irridescent blue Betta female. I laughed so hard when I saw him following her around like a lovesick fish, but was amazed when he actually began mating with her!!! Do Bettas have live fry? or do they do the egg thing. I think a Betta/Platy cross would be something to behold. I am still in shock that this little guy has the hots for Blue! Too funny!

I didn't think fish went outside their breed type. I bought some white mickey mouse Platys hoping the sunset platys would breed with them and they have absolutely no interest. Not even Lucky! He would rather chase Blue around the tank and try to impregnate her! lol
