Are you doing a fishless cycle?

if your doing a fishless cycle dont clean anything or it'll slow the process down, if your doing a fishy cycle then your going to have to do water changes in order to keep your fish alive

Then just leave the water alone and enjoy your mini-vacation. You'll have to change the water enough when you get your fish in the tank! :)

You have to change the water VERY rapindly. You have to do a water change every time the ammonia or nitrites get over .5 to 1.

does "no. fish cycle." mean that you have fish in your tank? Thats confusing to me, sorry.
If you have fish in the tank while cycling--Like S.S.S. said do a water change when you get as high as .5
If you have NO fish in your tank while cycling--Leave it be. Do not change any water until you have finished your cycle.

YES! Absolutely do not shut those filters off unless you have to.

agreed, a lot of the bacteria you need will grow in your filter and turning it off will kill off that bacteria

Thats where you are TRYING to grow bacteria!!!!!!!!!!! And if the filter is not on there is no water in it. And if there is no water, the bacteria cant grow. It will kill it. It lives in your gravel too, but only a little.
