Our little community is dealing with this, I should have posted sooner, but I thought for sure she would would show up. She's one of the kids I don't know as well as I should, but I saw her almost every morning when her and her boyfriend, whom I do know well, would get to school.

So sad Thanksgiving came and went and now Christmas is almost here, breaks my heart every morning as the flyers are one of the first things I see. I know this happens in the world everyday but nothing hits home until it happens this close.

What troubles me is their refusal to issue an AMBER alert. Just what does it take to "qualify" for it? Does the missing person have to be found dead, first, when maybe an AMBER alert may have helped find her sooner and saved her life? I think that's inexcusable that they wouldn't utilize that resource. How does one judge in a case like that, and what gives them the right to deny it? Maybe the "rules" should be changed so that ANY child missing under very suspicious circumstances (and these ARE suspicious) automatically qualifies for an AMBER alert, and it gets implemented immediately. They can't honestly say they're utilizing all resources if they refuse to utilize that one.

After this much time, it doesn't look good ...
