Scam seeds?

Hello everyone. I bought some water hyacinth seeds (at a very cheap price from an online vendor) recently and now I'm wishing I didn't. The seeds sprouted fine and first looked like little sprigs of grass; no big deal. They'll grow new leaves soon. But then, the plant got bigger and now looks like a floating green grass. Is this what water hyacinth sprouts look like? They don't remind me of the bulbous, floating plant with lavender/pink flowers I have heard so much about.
