View Full Version : The wild crayfish rescue

Hi everyone. While exploring a creek, I found a huge 5-inch crayfish tied up with cord. Some kids at the park helped me to untie the major loops. I took him home to completely undo the tangled threads, but found they were threaded through two symmetrical holes in either claw. It looks intentional. Who would do such a thing?! Anyway, he can still eat all right and is adjusting to his new temp tank quite well. He's going to be released this Thursday. How can I make him comfortable and heal all right till then? Thank you.

Lucky has grown quite tame. He's going to be released today at the Zebulon Park.

I missed this. Good for you!! So happy you healed him. Idk who would have nothing better to do then to mess with a crayfish, such a pathetic futile thing to let it just go wild and never see it again.

He seemed happy to get home. It's bittersweet. :bluecry:

That's a neat thing that you did.

Thanks everyone; I try to do what I can to prevent animals suffering. When I let him go, there was a little teeny baby crayfish right under the rock where I found Lucky; maybe it was his little cray waiting for Daddy to come home.
:jumpgreen: Daddy!
