hi need help with points

Hi im new on AC. My tanks are listed below in my signature.
I live in ontario Canada, d and have been keeping fish for about 6 years now.
I am currently deciding on stock for a new 10 gallon freshwater.
What are these AC points for?
How do get them, what do you do with them?
and what are medals.
Can somebody explain these?

You get points by posts. I think 1 post is 2 points, but whatever. people can also donate points to you. Medals are for winning contests, which are tank of the month (TOTM) picture of the month (POTM) and member of the month (MOTM). If you look to the side of my post, there is a clover. that is a gift. You can buy gifts (and many other things too, like changing the color of your name) in the store. the store is in shop menu, and then the first thing on the drop-down list.
