what tank size? goldfish need 20g each and 10g thereafter, so if you have enough room you could add other coldwater fish like weather loaches

As cocoa said, goldfish are coldwater fish and should be kept with other coldwater fish like white cloud minnows, paradise fish, and dojo (weather) loaches.

They do not give off any more ammonia than other fish of the same bioload.
