Hey would someone be able to give me some info? I have 4 Red-bellies they just came out of a 38gal. tank 12/4/07. I had them since they were about the size of a quarter in the 38gal. until I bought a 75 gal. on 12/4 & made the transfer into there new home. My problem is there NOT EATING for me, going on 5 days now.Prior to this change they ate great...They were hooked on frozen krill .........Now What???

I dumped about 30 gallons of the old water into the 75 gal. & my canister & my wet/Dry from the 38 gal., which is already established....Hopefully (IT WILL NOT CYCLE AGAIN)...Just a good water change...

Keep doing large water changes regularly and hope they pull through. What are the parameters?
With moving the established filter your should be fine, but keep an eye on water parameters anyway. I wonder if they are just getting acclimated to their new surroundings?

I hope so,Both tanks are bare, just small stones as a base..I like them that way. How long could they go with out food? They ate very well, very healthy fish...I don't want too lose them.

i don't know about apirahna (sp?) but i know that a betta can go about 2 weeks without eating. So it could be from a week to 2 weeks maybe.

I think it's probably stress from the move.

Piranha can be very finicky fish. Took mine 10 days to get used to some new rocks I put in their tank. They all sat on one side bickering with each other until they finally got brave enough to check out the new items.
Fish can go quite some time with out eating, not that I am recommending this but, a friend of mine had a community tank setup, no live plants just plastic. During his divorce the tank sat in the house for 4-5 months. He moved more then a couple hours away and only made it to feed them 1 once a month. None of the fish died during this time.
I ended up buying the tank from him, with all the fish. I have had the tank for 4 years now. The Corys are still alive and doing well in other tanks. My Piranhas enjoyed very much the high priced tetra snacks that used to live in their new home.

At work, we feed our piranha every friday...in some cases I have seen large piranha go two weeks without feeding but this is a full grown adult. When adding piranha to larger tanks, I like to provide a lot of hiding places with slate, or some floating plants as well...this may help acclimation.

they are probably just pouting around getting used to it........ alot of south american cichlids do it when introduced into a new tank so maybe the piranha are also, even though they are caracins and not cichlids.........
