They are probably some of the more peaceful malawi cichlids but thats not to say they cant get aggressive, they are omnivorous

From what Ive researched they are pretty much the most peceful cichlid, bar the dwarfs. as mentioned they are omnivorous, but generally if something will fit in its mouth, thats where itll end up.

yes they are aggressive, no they are not carniverous.

you will hear people say they are a peaceful mbuna, but bear in mind that this is only relative to other mbuna. they would shred they inhabitants of a typical tropical community softwater tank for instance, even the cichlids, if kept.

I've now got 13 yellows, 5 electric blues, kribs bn, plecos, loaches, serpae's, bala, etc etc in a 6ft tank. They are really peaceful, even towards other males. they dont even chase them for a quarter of the tanks length.

I had them in a 3ft tank for a short while with neons, and it took them 3 weeks to even nip a neon fin.
